Crime and Punishment
The Crime
- Nathan was making his fingers look like a gun, having the thumb up and the pointed finger sticking out.He was pointing it at a friend's head and he said 'boom.' The kid didn't see it. No other kids saw it.
The Accuser
- The teacher saw it.
The Offender
- The next morning Paul Entingh, the father, escorted his son Nathan to the principal's office.
The Principal:
- " If it happens again the suspension would be longer, if not permanent."
The Father
- "It wasn't threatening. It wasn't hostile. It was a 10-year-old kid playing." He was just goofing around...
The Punishment
- The 10 years old kid was suspended for 3 days...............

..................And I...
For an educator to suspend students is a cruel and unusual punishment. Cruel, since the educator is denying the student a fundamental right to socialize...Some wise sociologist has insisted than human beings are profoundly "social animals". Unusual, because the educator is washing his/her hands and refusing to educate. After all suspending a student is NOT educating the kid...It is just denying to educate...
It is sad that educators resort to nonsensical ways to deal with the students.
- Suspending = denying to educate.
- Expelling = Admitting that the educator CANNOT educate.
This indeed is an enigma in our current education system.
I have insisted that teachers and principals and VPs and Board members are there because of the money, not because of the CALLING to be EDUCATORS...
Shamelessly they compare themselves to Jesus. He was the rabbi...Rabbi means teacher and leader...So...
This kind of analogy has happened over and over again in "teacher's professional development days"...Speakers have attempted to suck up to the teachers...and the teachers get a kick out of it and go back to their old ways of doing things...
Then they suspend a kid...Then they expel a kid...Then they check their bank book to make sure that they have been paid for their services...to whom? I am not sure...
Definitely NOT to the kids... Not to the students.
