An Invitation for Action ... A Young Friend Speaks up....
1) I received the following post from a young-student-friend...
I am posting it as it is...I added the photos only...
The intention was not a "show off"...The intention was not a "suck up"...
I just wanted to celebrate my last "in class" students...
But since some feel uneasy...I will not post any photos...but rather answer to all individually...
3) Read my friend's reflections and "speak up" for GLOBAL PEACE...
Wars are terrible and uncivilized way to negotiate with each other... I am sure our leaders can talk to each other instead of bombing and shooting at each other...
Of course they are safe...Young people will be the victims not the "leaders"... Speak out does not mean yelling and refusing everything...rather invites all for a positive critique...and a way out of this present nightmare...of mini-wars everywhere... Stand up means to make a POSITIVE difference... Have summer camps...discussion groups and I am sure you will find the way out of the wars and poverty and bullying and racism and greed and all the rest... Sharing is the better way... Peace is the only way... H.K. |
We all hear the words "speak out" and "stand up," but very few do so.
There is a
time and place for everything and the same holds true for the sayings
"speak out" and "stand up."
"Speak out" and "stand up" for what is right and just
Without any confusion and
misinterpretations to result from this, I'm going to clear it up right away.
"Speak out" and "stand up" for what is right and just. Do
not speak out and stand up to be the clown of the group. Do not speak out and
stand up to your parents, because they raised you and surely have wisdom. Do
not speak out and stand up for the wrong things, such as getting drunk,
smoking, bullying, etc... The two phrases "speak out" and "stand
up" have been twisted and turned into a different meaning.
We may
be young, and want to fit in with the group and flow, but that is not always
the right thing to do. There are issues all over the world as you read this,
but in order to make this world a better place, we need to take things one step
at a time. Several posts on the blog have been about computers and advancing
technology, but sadly this advancement in technology is just what creates more
problems. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks have been
highly contemplated for their effect on society.
These social networks can most definitely be resourceful tools; HOWEVER, they are not utilized in their proper manner. We have all heard of problems
arising on such social
networks, not just on a friend-friend level, but also on a career level as
well. So why have these things if the people around us make them bad to have?
On the other hand there are people who make fake accounts and impersonate
another person that is common to the surrounding population. They do so just
for fun to attempt to feel good about themselves. So, instead of consuming many
hours every day on these social networks, why don't we try and make a
difference?
Quoting another post on the blog, "If we love peace…We have to act…and sacrifice for it…" Speak out and stand up, what results from it is a different story. In school we were constantly told "stand up against bullying," meanwhile the administration are the biggest bullies of them all that are hard to stop, but not impossible to stop. Without sacrifice there will not be any change, and we all must remember that. And that is where the biggest question is. Being brave enough to sacrifice in order for others to live better lives shows strong faith, lacking this shows selfishness, and unfortunately many people lean towards the selfish side. They may not necessarily be selfish, but they simply want to live their life while others live theirs.
Change does not happen as quick as changing your profile picture, but rather takes a lot longer. Thankfully I do not have to deal with those social networks because that allocates more time for relevant things. We do not speak out and stand up for what is right because we fear what might happen to us since there is a lot of corruption that surrounds us. As a close friend with a strong faith once said to me, "be thankful for the bad things that happen to you, not just the good."
We all want money, nice cars, big
houses, but very few people are willing to take the weight on their shoulders
to ease the lives of others. It seems unreasonable to say such a thing, but
that person is correct for saying it, the reason is as follows. Some people may
not be able to deal with the same thing and the end result may be worse;
however, if you bear the weight on your shoulders, then you lighten the load on
others' shoulders allowing them to proceed with their lives. When such people
pass by us we need to appreciate them, not force them to conform to the flow
because it is not acceptable. We shall learn from these people rather than use
and exploit them as so many people want to do.
As per the blog, teachers and students are in a sense hypnotized while being confined within the school's walls. We follow what the people with power tell us to do, even though it is wrong. However the people at the top are not all the same, and we only begin to realize that once they are gone. Some may know, others may not know, but the former principal of Philip Pocock, Mr. Henry Tyndorf has sadly passed away.
Mr. Tyndorf was a great principal who got involved in
the school in a variety of ways, dealt with issues appropriately and did not
waste time on non-sense. So after reading this we should all reflect on Mr.
Tyndorf for what he accomplished at Pocock and offer him and his family a
prayer. It is extremely sad that people need to lose something or someone
to realize what that person truly meant. We all think that there will
be better, and there may very well be better in the future, but
sometimes what is right in front of you and you throw away may very well be the
best or among the best, yet we only realize this after we lose this person.
Teachers
and students are scared to speak out and stand up for what is right and just,
but not all students and teachers are scared. Teachers fear losing their job
because they need to feed their families, and we students fear "getting in
trouble." Little do we know that it takes 1 person to speak out and stand
up, and then others will follow. What seems like a "bad" occurrence
in one's life might very well be the door to a different and better path
opening up. This is why what my friend said makes sense on an individual basis
because this "bad" occurrence can easily be the door to the next step
in your life opening up, but only if one allows this to happen.
Teachers and students are scared to speak out and stand up
All in all,
it is constantly spoken about, but rarely done, we all need to speak out and
stand up for what is right and just, whether it may be amongst our peers or
amongst the others who surround us. Do not fear speaking out and standing up
for what is right and just because your sacrifice is another person's freedom.
At the same time, do not speak out and stand up for what is wrong morally.
Young Friend,I indeed appreciate your thoughts and sentiments...
You have very good sense of right and wrong...Good determination to "stand up" and ACT...But be careful...
Choose your causes carefully...You are still young and be very careful before you act...The "Big Brother" is mighty and you may hurt yourself...They will hurt you...
Global peace is very important...we all flourish in peace...
Take care and I wait for your next input...
I will print it as it is...
Spread the news and share the blog with your friends...
H.K.
We may be young.........................But......WE CAN....and We are powerful
These social networks can most definitely be resourceful tools; HOWEVER, they are not utilized in their proper manner. We have all heard of problems
I know how to use the social media...So I am ready to graduate...
In groups...Summer Peace and Justice Camps...
